Seminar Presentation Materials

Please Note: This link and these materials have been provided to you because you are an approved facilitator. Please do not share this link with others.

Some of the key content in our seminar comes from the AOPA ASF's Nall Report. Additionally, with the recent publication from ASF of the TAA report, that data has now been included. To fully understand how this data is used and compared, I strongly recommend that you to read these two reports, accessible through the links immediately below.

2007 Nall Report

Report on TAA Aircraft Safety & Training

The following are our seminar slides. They are numbered in the order of their appearance in the seminar. For those that haven't seen the latest edition(s), several contributions have been added from several facilitators. Each will have a version after it (ver200709) which stands for the latest version (year2007 and month09.) If you have an older version, delete that one and download this one.

1. All Slides INTRO 200801

The introduction group of powerpoint charts have been consolidated into a single file. Several charts have been edited, added or deleted. These charts have been updated with data from the 2007 Nall Report, the 2007 ASF TAA study, and Rick Beach's latest summaries. Since there are a lot of data charts, feel free to select just some of them--two major points to make with this data--1)the pilot is the biggest problem, 2)Cirrus has accident rates typical of GA aircraft and 3)the TAA & Cirrus data show that we have a specific problem with weather.

2A. Risk Analysis Checklist ver200411

2B. Risk Analysis Checklist ver200411

You do not need to download these as they are embedded in the powerpoint. This is the first handout (laminated) and the centerpiece of the seminar. This was created in November 2004 and has had several different file names with some minor edits. However, due to some input from facilitators and audiences, as well as our desire to harmonize with the UND/Cirrus, CPPP (and FAA) minimums and risk analysis methodologies, we will probably be updating this in the near future. Continue to use these until then. MOST IMPORTANTLY, use this checklist to focus on creating a sensitivity to risk factors--especially those factors which might be low risk if considered separately, but which when combined on certain flights raises the risk of the flight. This is good to use when doing your case studies or the flight reenactment.

3. NTSB Reports for Case Studies

This is a link to another website with all the Cirrus accidents listed. If you can't get online during your seminar, there is a PDF download link that is a copy of this site.

4.Flight Reenactment ver200706

Thanks to Paul Platt for making some significant edits, including adding the sectional maps and "thoughts?" transitions.

5.COPA Code of Conduct

This is another handout which you can project while you discuss. Great to use as a wrapup for your meeting.
